Recommended Testing and Where To Go For Help

Naturopath

We recommend finding a good Naturopath in your area. Based on our experiences, as well as those of other implanted women, mainstream medicine, including the Mayo Clinic, is not well-versed in implant illness.   If you are able to find a Naturopath that has experience in dealing with implant illness or environmental toxicity, this is best. Most Naturopath’s have websites, where you can check out what their specialties are. Sometimes it is even helpful to email the Naturopath ahead of time to ask if they have experience in dealing with implant illness.  Some of our women have used The Environmental Health Center in Dallas (http://www.ehcd.com/center/detailed_overview.html) and The Optimal Wellness Center in Chicago (www.mercola.com).

Tests we recommend:

Candidiasis

Many women with implant illness are left with a systemic infection called Candidiasis. Candidiasis can best be explained as an overgrowth of yeast called candida       albicansCandida albicans normally resides in the body within the digestive tract and vagina. Levels of this yeast are usually kept in check by the immune system and by probiotic (beneficial) bacteria in the body.  If probiotic bacteria are killed by antibiotics or if the immune system becomes weakened, candida yeast may grow out of control. This overgrowth of yeast can be responsible for symptoms such as debilitating fatigue, headache, mood swings, sinus congestion, depression, poor memory and concentration, and cravings for sweets.
For a simple test to check to see if you have a yeast overgrowth infection, click on this site http://www.victorieinc.us/Threelac_Candida_Free_Test.htm.
If you find you do have this infection, we suggest a supplement called Caprylic Acid. Caprylic Acid can be purchased at health food stores or online at an affordable price. We recommend taking 3600 milligrams for 3 weeks. This is usually 10 pills a day so you should start off slowly and work your way up to 10 pills and pace them out throughout your day during each of your meals. While you are taking the Caprylic Acid, be sure you are also taking a probiotic which will help establish good bacteria back to your digestive tract. You can get probiotics from plain yogurt, kefir and sauerkraut. You can also take a supplement to get your probiotic We recommend Primal Defense offered by Garden of Life http://www.gardenoflife.com/detail_primal_defense.shtml, or Saccharomycin DF, http://www.xymogen.com/2007/attribute.asp?code_product=000081&code_attrib=01.

Other natural anti-fungals you can try are grapefruit seed extract, coconut oil, oil of oregano, olive leaf extract and raw garlic.

Heavy Metals Testing

Many women with implant illness have high levels of heavy metals.  Implants contain heavy metals such as platinum and tin, yet some women with implants are also diagnosed with high levels of arsenic and mercury.  Heavy metal toxicity can result in damaged or reduced mental and central nervous function, lower energy levels, and damage to blood composition, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other vital organs. Long-term exposure may result in slowly progressing physical, muscular, and neurological degenerative processes that mimic Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis.  Ask your Naturopath for a heavy metals test, which is usually done through a hair or urine analysis.  Treatment most often consists of chelation and should only be administered under the care of a licensed and experienced Naturopath or MD.

Adrenal Stress Test

Systemic yeast and heavy metals work synergistically, wreaking havoc on the body’s adrenal system.  The adrenal glands are two small glands whose purpose is to help the body to cope with stress.  Implants are foreign objects to the body and once implanted, the body goes into a “fight or flight” mode taxing the adrenals and other organs until the body can no longer function appropriately. Symptoms include:

  • Lack of energy in the mornings and also in the afternoon between 3 to 5 pm

  • Feel better suddenly for a brief period after a meal.

  • Often feel tired between 9 - 10 pm, but resist going to bed.

  • Need coffee or stimulants to get going in the morning.

  • Tendency to gain weight and unable to loose it, especially around the waist.

  • High frequency of getting the flu and other respiratory diseases and these symptoms tend to last longer than usual.

  • Tendency to tremble when under pressure.

  • Reduced sex drive.

  • Lightheaded when rising from a laying down position.

  • Unable to remember things.

  • Crave for salty, fatty, and high protein food such as meat and cheese.

  • Increase symptoms of PMS for women; period are heavy and then stop, or almost stopped on the 4th day, only to start flow again on the 5th or 6th day.

  • Pain in the upper back or neck with no apparent reason.

  • Feels better when stress is relieved, such as on a vacation.

  • Difficulties  in getting up in the morning

  • Lightheadedness

  • Mild depression

  • Food and or inhalant allergies

  • Lethargy and lack of energy

  • Increased effort to perform daily  tasks

  • Decreased ability to handle stress

  • Dry and thin skin

  • Hypoglycemia

  • Low Body Temperature

  • Nervousness

  • Palpitation

  • Unexplained hair loss

  • Alternating constipation and diarrhea

  • Dyspepsia

The best way to test for adrenals is to measure the cortisol levels in one’s saliva.  A naturopath can order a test for you.  Or for a home test, visit http://www.canaryclub.org/.
The most accurate are those where saliva is sampled four times throughout the day, versus two.  To learn more about adrenal fatigue, visit www.adrenalfatigue.org
Treatment for adrenal fatigue is a slow process, involving reducing stress, eating healthy, consciously making time to rest, and using various hormones such as pregnenelone, DHEA or licorice root.  Seek a naturopath’s guidance before treating yourself.

Food Allergy Panel

Many implanted women develop food allergies and digestive problems.  Systemic yeast accumulates in the colon and over time can microscopically perforate the lining of the intestines, creating “Leaky Gut Syndrome.”  These microscopic holes allow food proteins to pass into the bloodstream creating an inflammatory response or allergic reaction.  Not only does this cause diarrhea, constipation, brain fog and headaches, but it also leads to malabsorption.  As a result, many implanted women cannot tolerate gluten, wheat, corn, eggs, soy, dairy or sugar.  For some, the intolerances are even greater and varied.  A Food Allergy Composition (IgG ) blood test can be ordered through an alternative practitioner.  By avoiding foods that produce symptoms, the gut can heal and absorption improves.

Thyroid Testing

Because the body is in a constant state of fight battling implant chemicals, yeast overgrowth and heavy metals, sometimes the body becomes confused and begins attacking itself.  Many women with implants have autoimmune symptoms from thyroid disorder. Often times the typical thyroid panel which checks TSH, Free T3 and T4 will come back within the normal range when in actuality thyroid disease is present. The best way to check for this is to test thyroid antibodies. There are two kinds of thyroid antibodies tests, so be sure to ask for them both. One can be high while the other is normal, so that is why you need both tests done to find an autoimmune thyroid condition. These tests are the Anti-TPO antibodies test and the thyroglobulin antibody test (TgAB).   Not all endocrinologists are aware of the need to test antibodies, so be sure to specifically request these tests.

Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis

Parasites often go hand in hand with heavy metals and yeast.  Often the overgrowth is so severe that the beneficial bacteria are wiped out.  A comprehensive digestive stool analysis allows you to see where you stand as far as the ratio of beneficial to bad bacteria.  It can also determine the specific types of bad bacteria that need to be treated.  A naturopathic doctor can help you with this or you can order your own through Great Plains Laboratories.  http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/testlist.html

Environmental Pollutants Panel

Because breast implants are made of multiple chemicals, such as xylene, toluene and benzene, many implanted women have much higher doses of these chemicals in their body, then women of the same age, the same race and living in the same area that do not have breast implants.  Symptoms of high doses of these chemicals in the human body are consistent with many symptoms women with implants are complaining of such as fatigue, headaches, dizziness, hair loss and bone and joint pain to name a few.  Also, many of these chemicals have been linked to a variety of pathologies including neuropsychological dysfunction, leukopaenia, dyspnoea, anemia, and certain cancers.
