40 GOOD Reasons Not to Get
Breast Implants
|
1 You can feel the implant under your skin. Implants do not feel
like real breasts.
|
2. It is very uncomfortable/almost impossible to sleep or lie on your
stomach.
|
3. Many women have loss of sensitivity on the underside of their
breasts.
|
4. It is unknown how children born to women with breast implants are
affected. There have been many reports of children experiencing
similar health problems as their mothers who have breast implants.
In fact, the FDA Consumer Handbook discusses the Institute of
Medicine’s findings and says, “it is not known what effect
breast implants may have on an unborn baby (fetus) and the nursing
infant.”
|
5. After getting implants, they will constantly be on your mind and
you will always be wondering if any problems you are having are
associated with your implants.
|
6. Nipples become either too sensitive or you will have a complete
loss of sensitivity.
|
7. It is difficult to find clothes that fit (too tight, too short,
seams are made for smaller busts, swimsuits made for smaller busts,
etc.)
|
8. Many women are more self-conscious in certain clothing, especially
swim suits!
|
9. Breasts with implants are much more sore then natural breasts.
|
10. Implants can cause stretch marks.
|
11. The thought of implants rupturing or shifting is ALWAYS on your
mind. You are afraid to hug someone, lay on them wrong, have someone
else lay on them wrong, etc.
|
12. Implants do not last a lifetime; you WILL need to have them
replaced about every 5-7 years. Even though you may be able to
scrape together the funds for your initial surgery, do you have
extra funds laying around to pay for additional surgeries to fix
ruptures, repairs, replacements, complications and finally explant
surgery?
|
13. Implants put extra pressure on your ribs causing the ribs to
invert, a condition that can be painful and is irreversible.
|
14. Implants cause bad posture.
|
15. Mammograms are much more difficult to perform and can sometimes
cause implants to rupture.
|
16. With the new silicone implants, the FDA has made it clear that
patients will need a breast MRI after three years, and every year
after that for the rest of their lives. Insurance companies do
not pay for these MRIs.
|
17. It is difficult to meet new people when you have implants. You
will be constantly wondering what they think of you and if they know
your breast aren't real.
|
18. Thousands of women have reported symptoms of and have been
diagnosed with serious autoimmune and connective tissue disorders
and diseases after receiving breast implants
|
19. The saline in your implant can make a noticeable
"swooshing" sound.
|
20. Capsule contracture is the most common complication of breast
augmentation. After breast augmentation, your body immediately
forms a capsule around the implant to protect itself. CC is
when the capsule tightens and squeezes the implant. This makes the
breast implant feel hard, and distorts the appearance of the breast.
This requires more surgery and can happen again and again.
|
21. Health insurance carriers can raise your premiums, deny future
coverage, or even drop you once you get breast implants or develop
complications from breast implants.
|
22. Breast implants may make it difficult for you to breastfeed. You
can also pass toxins and chemicals to your baby while breastfeeding.
|
23. Breast implants make it difficult to exercise because of the
weight and awkwardness of having man-made plastic objects in your
body.
|
24. When illness occurs as a result of the implants, it is difficult
to find medical help because this illness has not yet been
recognized in the medical community and there is no standardized
treatment.
|
25. When illness occurs as a result of the implants, it is difficult
to find doctors who will admit the connection, for fear of becoming
entangled in a law suit.
|
26. Doctors are reluctant to admit implant illness because in doing
so, they have to point a finger at plastic surgeons, who are their
colleagues.
|
27. If you do get sick from your implants, you will lose precious time
with your loved ones.
|
28. You can develop multiple chemical sensitivities and food allergies
that you would not have otherwise.
|
29. You would be setting a good example for your children and grand
children that they are beautiful and perfect just as they are.
You’d be showing them that beauty has many faces, many colors and
begins within.
|
30. Breast implants are only an illusion. They do not give you
the nice, round, big breasts that you feel like you are lacking.
They are not real big boobs; they are only a sack of silicone or
saline that will always be alien to your body.
|
31. Many women have reported that after getting implants, the one or
both of the implants do not “fall.” Some women have had to go in
for a second surgery to have this fixed, or live with one or both of
the implants too high on their chest.
|
32. The weight of implants can cause back and neck problems.
|
33. You are running the risk of many complications by having implants
placed in your breasts including muscle tears, nerve and milk duct
damage, breast tissue atrophy, calcification/calcium deposits, chest
wall deformity, hematoma, infection, necrosis and seroma, to name a
few.
|
34. Your breasts will have unnecessary scars on them forever.
|
35. Breast Implants will more then likely "go out of style"
in the next couple of years.
|
36. Implants make it difficult to detect breast cancer (see photo in
our March blog 2008.)
|
37. Silicone elicits antibody responses and immunological
abnormalities in the human body.
|
38. At some point you will need to have your implants removed.
You will never have your original breasts back, and your breasts
will never look as good as they did before implants.
|
39. Implanted women have triple the risk of committing suicide as
women without breast implants. This is possibly due to the
complications that breast implants cause.
|
40. Not getting implants means that you will be pure, natural and
gorgeous in your OWN skin!!
